Lauris Reiniks: Running With a New Song, Video!
We’re all running somewhere. Sometimes we don’t even know where, but we know that we must get there as quickly as possible!
On May 27, 3.15pm Lauris Reiniks’ new song, “Es skrienu” (I’m Running; Reiniks/Freimanis/Reiniks) will debut on most Latvian radio stations together, and the video for the song will have its premiere later that evening on LNT television. The song is the last single before the musician releases his new album. The Mikrofona Ieraksti record company has scheduled the album’s release for September 2010.
Reiniks says that “Es skrienu” is a real summer song:
“My fans know me as a performer who sings ballads, and it’s interesting for me to offer them this song, because it is not quite typical of my repertoire. It’s a dynamic and melodic song which tells an interesting story and has a bit of an ethno beat. The excellent producer for the song was Aldis Zaļūksnis.”
The video for “Es skrienu” will debut on the LNT television programme “Voice of the People” on the evening of May 27. The video was directed by Aija Strazdiņa and filmed by Uvis Burjāns. Reiniks and Strazdiņa came up with the screenplay for the video.
The video was filmed over the course of three days in Lauris’ home town of Tērvete, and it is the biggest video production in his career. Some 100 people were involved in the production of the video, which features a romantic and comical story with elements of an action film. The story focuses on mid-summer events in a Latvian small town or village, with a girl giving a boy one last opportunity to save their relationship. The producers of the video for “Es skrienu” are positioning it as a short feature film.
“I very much wanted the video for the song to show people what Latvia looks like in the summer – its beautiful environment and wonderful people,” says Lauris. “I hope that we have succeeded, though I have to say that the process was the toughest physical challenge that I have ever faced. After we finished, I couldn’t walk for two days – my leg muscles were just overloaded. But it was worth the effort, and I hope that my fans will enjoy the video!”
Lauris Reiniks and the production team would like to thank the “Sprīdīši” guesthouse, the horse farm of the Tērvete agricultural company, the Melderis family, the Tērvete group, dancers from Tērvete, and the Jelgava-based dance team “Lielupe”.
The song “Es skrienu” will be available for downloading on the Doremi.lv portal from May 27.
